Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2016: Innovation Plus Performance Apparel

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market attracts nearly 30,000 industry professionals experiencing new tech, gear and apparel. More than 1,600 exhibits filled a 515,000 square-foot convention hall and three enormous outdoor pavilions.

Active Junky talked with up-and-coming active-wear designers who modeled their innovative apparel focused on performance, comfort and durability. And they look pretty sleek, too. Here are some of our new favorites:

Lined with proprietary SolarCore aerogel textile, the Lukla Jacket’s rating of -58°F handles cold from pole to pole. We watched the confident Oros team douse an intern wearing the jacket with liquid nitrogen, -321°F: both jacket and intern emerged unscathed.

Durable and flexible (even after said tests), it compresses and rebounds without affecting performance. Waterproof and only 3mm thick, this jacket provides exception warmth without bulk.

Paired with a hiking skirt or dress, the simple design provides cover-up privacy and on-the-trail convenience when nature calls. Petals are available September 2016.
