Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2016: Tricked-Out Tech & Tools

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is the world’s largest gathering for outdoor brands, dealers and retailers who converge to experience the latest technologies manifested in gear, tools, gadgets, apparel and textiles.

The Active Junky team spent four days walking the floor, talking with owners, creators, developers, and representatives to track down innovations that make the outside experience even more accessible and safer.

While the big brands came to play inside Salt Lake City's Salt Palace Convention Center August 3 to 6, smaller companies set up shop in three expansive outside pavilions to showcase their thinking (and products).

Watch for these five brands and their wares in coming months.

Download and play your music directly on the Drifter. Waterproof, buoyant and compatible with GoPro mounts, now you’ll pump the jam on a boat, paddling your SUP or chilling on inflatables.

Night Runner 270 Shoe Lights: See & Be Seen

Check out the Night Runner 270 >

Visibility at dusk and dawn, along with full-on nighttime, is paramount to safety in camp or on the trail. Head, torso or waist lights remain popular options, Night Runner 270 lights are unique as the rechargeable LEDs simply clip to your shoes. With 150 lumen output, Night Runner reaches 30 feet ahead and 270 degrees around you, hence the name.

Rear-facing red lights get seen on trail or road while the water-resistant, high-impact casing handles varied scenarios from night hikes to dewy morning jogs.

Deeper Smart Fishfinder: Reel Success with Wireless Smart Sonar

Check out the Deep Smart Fishfiner >

Before casting your line, fly the Deeper Smart Fishfinder, a castable smart sonar. The Deeper tracks everything from water temperature to fish positions. All while mapping underwater terrain and sending live updates to your smartphone from up to 130 feet away.

Using unique dual frequencies, Deeper measures depths from 1.5 feet down to 130 feet. At 2.5 inches and 3.5 ounces, toss it in your tackle box and improve your fishing results wherever you wet a line.

Silynx Clarus Pro: Protected Selective Hearing

Check out the Silynz Clarus Pro >

The Clarus Pro noise-canceling headset offers true ear protection without bulky muffs or delicate earbuds. Conversation, music and audio freely enter your ears while the headset impedes loud and impulse noises. Fear not about blocking warning sounds like sirens and car horns as Clarus detects the difference.

A top choice of military, law enforcement and security, the Silynx Clarus Pro headset performs well in non-tactical situations, from road biking to international travel
