Reuseable Grocery Bags: Save The Planet, Increase Gravity’s Pull (As In, Gain Weight)

A new study from Harvard, as reported in Men’s Journal, documents how using a tote bag for grocery shopping hits the user’s (bigger) bottom line.  Added junk foods get loaded into the “save the Earth” bags, largely because shoppers see themselves as being more virtuous people.  Those bringing bags to the market were 7% more likely to grab for the goodies, loading up on foods like chips or ice cream.  Items high in fat, sugar and sodium made the cut, equating to an extra bag or chips or a high-calorie bakery cookie. Avoid the temptation to enlarge your sitter but don’t stop doing what’s right for the planet.
