World Record on the Matterhorn

World Record on the Matterhorn

No ropes. No brakes. Or breaks. That’s the only way Dani Arnold was able to charge up the Matterhorn in record time, slashing 10 minutes off of Ueli Steck’s 2009 record.

His axes are a blur, his steps are sure. This route is, justifiably, most often climbed by teams employing the use of ropes and additional safety equipment. When attempting to blaze up this famous face in under two hours, team mates, ropes and safety gear would just make for slower attempt. Still, flying solo comes with serious risk.
