Description

Field Notes: Costa’s newest sunglasses style, the Trevally, features the brand’s high-end hinge technology to reduce breakage and stretch, as well as the all-important hypo-allergenic rubberized nose pads. It’s available in unisex colors, and the frame is made of Costa's newest castor-based resin material with increased durability, reduced weight, and resistance to temperature.

Trevally comes in four frame colors: black, Tortuga fade, tortoise and orchid. Choose from polarized glass (best clarity) or polarized plastic (lower cost and lighter weight); both glass and plastic come with Costa 580 technology, are scratch resistant, provide 100% UV protection and come in five lens colors, depending on your choice of activity. Trevally frames can also house your prescription lenses.

Costa also offers the Omni Fit series – a line of upgraded sport-performance sunglasses designed to fit faces of an even wider variety of sizes and shapes, including higher cheekbones, and wider and flatter noses. To do this, Costa took a selection of best sellers and gave them deeper, adjustable nose pads, a new distance between lenses, and flatter head curve.

Co-injected nylon frames are available in a blacked-out matte finish or tortoise, and are loaded with time-tested Costa tech including integral hinges, anti-fog vents, and polarized, wrap-style lenses that bust haze, prevent glare, and filter UV blue and yellow light, giving you better visual clarity and definition for full days on the water. Models that got the Omni Fit makeover include the Tuna Alley, Corbina, Blackfin, Fathom, Fantail, Fisch and Permit, all named after the fish species the brand works to protect.

Costa not only puts time and thought into their sunglasses, but they are also environmentally conscious, particularly about water ways throughout the world. The team started Protect Guyana, an initiative to promote catch-and-release sport fishing as a way to bring in tourism and income to help rebuild local villages as well as revitalize populations of indigenous species.

Pros: High quality everything. Designed by watermen for watermen.

Cons: Makes you look like a coastal fisherperson.

Tester Comments: “Having spent time on the water all around the southeastern coast, everybody knows that Costa’s are a must-have.”
