“They stay put.” Says a lot in this category in which the ability to gain – and hold – a reasonable ear fit is difficult. At less than half an ounce, Outdoor Tech has a head start on success. Charging is simple, sure, fast and provides up to 5 hours of on-the-move music. Volume adjustment and microphone use are among the easiest to use, with Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity ranging easily up to 30ft. Frequency response is better than testers anticipated while the wireless earbud tips and secure fit wings (we’ll call them “fins” for the Orca) added to a sense of security on foot or on the bike. Active Junky’s had consistently-positive experiences with Outdoor Tech so the Orcas are in the same proven pod now. Yes, we like word plays here. Almost as much as we favor gear that excels in the real world.
