Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Camper SV

Widely acclaimed, the completely unique inflation design of the SV, or SpeedValve, is literally a game changer for how to fill a sleeping pad. A few simple blows into the wide-mouth valve, like blowing out birthday cake candles, completely inflates the pad, then simply roll down the top belt (like a dry bag) to close the valve. And you can release air as needed through the smaller valve to adjust pressure. Snap the buckle open, and all the air rushes out the self-reversing valve with minimal pressure.  

Because it’s a larger pad, take some care in rolling it up, as you’ll want it fully compressed for packing and carrying. The stable, horizontal ridges and soft face fabric are just two of the features that make this Therm-a-Rest sleeping pad great. We also tested the Trekker SV, the medium-weight version of this pad – the lightest edition is the XLite Max SV.

Universal Tests

Comfort test: Very comfortable, very stable, micro-adjustable air pressure.

Weighted overnight test: No issue as long as you roll the top closure at least seven times.

Durability test: Very durable. No damage done through normal use.

Re-pack test: Easy to roll up thanks to the large valve opening allowing all the air to escape.

Inflation speed test: The fastest on the market with the assistance of its handy valve. Seven big blows or so is all it takes once you get the hang of it.

Packed size test: The Camper packs a little bigger than an ultralight pad, but the Trekker is a little lighter and smaller.
