Backcountry teamed up with NEMO Equipment to come out with a great line of camping and backpacking products to help you get out into the wilderness this summer. NEMO is known for having some of the highest quality camping equipment on the market. Backcountry’s experienced Gearheads helped design this group of products to be exceptionally functional and comfortable. Our testers took these new products deep into Colorado’s wilderness to put these to the test and see if they live up to the stellar NEMO reputation.
Backcountry x NEMO Nachi Tent: 2-Person 3-Season Starting at: $273.56 The Nachi tent was built to be a roomy 2 person tent to make camp life a little more comfortable. The extra steep walls make the tent a lot more roomy than other similar tents without adding too much bulk and weight. Our testers really appreciated the extra space especially since they had their furry companion alongside them. Many times backpackers opt for a 3 person tent to accommodate their dogs, but with the Nachi, you’ll be perfectly content with your pup and partner in this 2-person tent. Adding to the livability and extra space theme the doors on this thing are huge making getting in and out a breeze. However, there is only one zipper on the doors which our testers found a little inconvenient. The setup on the Nachi is incredibly easy, featuring color-coded tabs and pole, beginner campers will have no problem setting up quickly. Inside the tent, there are multiple pockets and attachment points to keep you organized and hang lanterns. IF you are looking for a 2-person tent that can transition from backpacking to car camping and have a little extra space, the Nachi Tent is for you.
Backcountry x NEMO Verata Sleeping Pad Starting at: $182.36 A sleeping pad is one of the most important pieces of camping equipment, after long days on the trails you’ll want to get a restful nights sleep in order to have another big day in the morning. Our tester tracked their sleep using a whoop fitness tracker where they earned great points for recovery which we don’t always find while sleeping in a tent. The extra-wide pad ensures you don’t feel like you are falling off the sides in the middle of the night, despite the wide size two of these pads easily fit inside the Nachi tent. With an R-Value of 3.5, the pad insulates your from the cold ground, but it’s not quite enough for winter camping. The Verata features a durable bottom to make it incredibly resistant to punctures, but if you do end up with a hole it’ll be easy to repair. At 3 inches tall when inflated and specially designed baffles this pad gives you plenty of cushion and keeps your hips and shoulders from hitting the ground while side sleeping. Bonus points are given for the buoyancy in water that makes this a perfect alpine lake floaty for those hot summer days when a cool off is necessary.
Backcountry x NEMO Chigu Sleeping Bag: 20F Synthetic - Men's Starting at: $225.56 A good sleeping bag can make all the difference when spending a night under the stars. Backcountry opted to use NEMO’s unique spoon-shaped design for the Chigu bag, this spoon shape creates an extra roomy bag that accommodates side sleepers and those who like to curl up while sleeping. Extra soft fabric makes you feel right at home while in the wilderness. Smart touches like a waterproof foot box and DWR treatment keep dew and moisture away from the insulation keeping you dry and warm in whatever climate you find yourself in. Rated at 20 degrees F this bag will keep you warm most night spring through fall. If you find yourself overheating just open up the Thermo gills and dump some heat, our tester was surprised by how well this feature worked on a warm summer night. The synthetic insulation didn’t compress down into the provided stuff sack as we would like, but this keeps the cost down and makes heat retention in wet weather much better in comparison to down insulation. The Chigu bag is built for comfort and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better bag for this price for ultimate camp comfort.
