Father’s Day is just around the corner, so to help you wrangle a (very) last-minute gift for the adventurous dad(s) in your life, we’ve compiled this Father’s Day Gear Guide. It includes affordable gift ideas for every outdoor-lover, from anglers and hikers to trail runners, campers, and yogis. The clock is ticking, so let’s get to it!
Balega Ultralight No Show Socks – Unisex Starting at: $12.48
Runners never tire of receiving socks as gifts. Sliding your feet into an old, threadbare, and crusty pair of running socks isn’t a particularly pleasant experience. Donning brand-new Balega socks, however, is sheer, utter bliss. If dad loves running on trail or tarmac, the UltraLight No Show socks are low-cut, high-tech (for socks, at least), and crafted from premium performance fabrics. A robust, raised heel tab keeps blisters from cropping up, the compression fit is snug without being too tight, and Balega’s alchemical blend of wicking fibers and ventilated mesh zones minimizes the likelihood of swampy, malodorous feet.
Prana Super Mojo 2 Shorts $42.23 - $57.23
Dad doesn’t need to be a yogi to love these shorts—but it certainly helps. prAna knocked the second rendition of the beloved Super Mojo out of the park: these lightweight shorts are breathable, comfortable, and look sharp. Simply designed, with a broad, stretchy waistband and dual pockets, these shorts are well-prepared for hikes, yoga classes, hitting the gym, shooting hoops, and everyday life.

Orvis Pro Sun Hoody $82.77 - $85.44
We just started testing Orvis’ Pro Sun Hoody, but we can already tell it’s a winner. The Avra fabric is quick-drying, but it’s a heavier fabric than those of most sun shirts, so it’s not going to be our go-to for extremely hot weather. That said, it’s a comfortable, mid-weight shirt with a built-in hood and pocket that’s ideal for spring, fall, and windy summer days on the water. It’s treated with Polygiene, an odor-combatting additive that will keep anglers from reeking on the river, even on multi-day trips. We recommend you size down—it’s on the large size.

Father’s Day means that it’s sandal season. The Chillos are the ultimate dad accessory: they combine Chaco’s strap and sole expertise with the slip-on appeal of a flip-flop. These simple, practical outdoor slippers are lightweight enough to use as a camp sandal, and they float, too, which makes them ideal for days on the lake. Perfect for taking the dog out for a stroll, a backyard barbecue, or letting the feet breathe after a hard workout, the Chillos are likely to be dad’s favorite summer footwear.
Honey Stinger Energy Chews Starting at: $19.28
We call Honey Stinger Energy Chews “Gummy Bears for Grown-Ups.” Not only are these treats ridiculously tasty, but they offer a fantastic boost of carbs, sugar, and sodium when you’re on the move. These are, hands-down, our favorite trail snack. Wrap up a box of these bad boys and any outdoor-lover, no matter their age, will be stoked. After all, exercise is merely an excuse to eat candy, right?
Gummies aren’t dad’s modus snackerandi? No worries—check out this round-up of our favorite trail snacks.
