Outdoor Retailer Summer Market attracts nearly 30,000 industry professionals experiencing new tech, gear and apparel. More than 1,600 exhibits filled a 515,000 square-foot convention hall and three enormous outdoor pavilions.
Active Junky talked with up-and-coming active-wear designers who modeled their innovative apparel focused on performance, comfort and durability. And they look pretty sleek, too. Here are some of our new favorites:
Check out the Eleven Pine Crankitup Shorts >
Lined with proprietary SolarCore aerogel textile, the Lukla Jacket’s rating of -58°F handles cold from pole to pole. We watched the confident Oros team douse an intern wearing the jacket with liquid nitrogen, -321°F: both jacket and intern emerged unscathed.
Durable and flexible (even after said tests), it compresses and rebounds without affecting performance. Waterproof and only 3mm thick, this jacket provides exception warmth without bulk.
Check out the Lady Hike Petals Pantease >
Appreciate Spandex’ stretch but not thrilled about wearing it off-piste, road or trail? Neither was avid cyclist and creator of the 11P system. This unique zipper system transforms a pair of shorts from performance-driven and form-fitted to roomy casual with a single zip.
Pair the Crankitup shorts with the Liberator Liner for additional comfort and breathable performance. The growing 11P line includes options for men and women, including skirts.
Check out the Lady Hike Petals Pantease >
With fashion, comfort and function in mind, the hiking-focused line includes mix-and-match pieces from dresses to separate sleeves and leggings, available Spring 2017. Also from Lady Hike are Petals Pantease, a specially designed pair of ladies’ outdoor panties with Velcro front flap.
Paired with a hiking skirt or dress, the simple design provides cover-up privacy and on-the-trail convenience when nature calls. Petals are available September 2016.
Check out the Arctic Cool Instant Cooling Shirt >
Overheating affects athletic performance and can be dangerous. This Instant Cooling Shirt puts your sweat to work, activating its HydroFreeze X Cooling technology. Beyond traditional textiles, fibers disperse sweat evenly across your midsection, creating greater cooling surface area.
As a result the more you sweat, the cooler you get. Active Junky rates the line as fashionable, with options for men and women that perform at the gym, country club or trail.
Check out the LP Support EmbioZ >
Fatigue or injury can happen to any muscle and extremity. EmbioZ compression apparel aims to support muscles, improve circulation and promote proper posture and movement while reducing stress on tendons and joints and decreasing muscle vibration.
Seamless, breathable and designed to wick away sweat, the EmbioZ general compression line includes pants, shorts and tops for both men and women, as well as compression sleeves, bands and socks.
