Workout Focus: Core, hips, legs
The snow is here and the lifts are churning. Don’t let your first run lead to exhaustion, or worse: injury. Certified personal trainer, Helly Hanson Ambassador and mountain guide JF Plouffe is here to make sure that you hit the slopes with strength, flexibility and confidence.
JF demonstrates three simple medicine ball exercises that work both the core and legs. First, dynamic squats engage the whole body as you toss the ball against the wall. Then, in a static lunge, core muscle groups burn through rhythmic sideways reps. Finally, a classic abdominal twist tops off the workout.
As per JF's recommendation, try 12 reps each for a total of 10 minutes. This is a great add-on to your existing regimen or a quick (not easy) exercise to get sweatin’. See you out there!
