Eight pockets may seem like overkill for some, but for those travelers and roadtrippers who find solace in organizational overkill, the Atlas Stretch is a solid choice. The Atlas has four obvious cargo pockets on the front, plus two pockets for your hands, an exterior zipper pocket on the chest, and an interior pocket for travel documents.
The stretchy softshell is crafted from DWR-treated Flexion nylon/spandex: upon testing this jacket in the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest, we came to realize that it’s far from waterproof, though it does breathe, cut down breeze, and repel drizzle decently. Steer clear if you’re on the hunt for a rain jacket, but do consider it if style and organizational features are attractive.
Tester Comments:
“I love the pockets, but I definitely didn’t use them all at once. I think I would have fallen flat on my face had I done so. Jokes aside, I did appreciate being able to organize smaller items, especially when hiking and fishing. Plus, this is one of few outdoor-oriented jackets that I own that looks great in the city, too.”
Bottom Line:
A stylish jacket that doesn’t do well in full-on rain, but rather excels in cool to moderate weather.
