Here, 550C high carbon steel creates both the frame and spike system forming the crampon. The alpine-suitable Pro takes performance higher than others tested.  Heavier at 667 grams/pair, this model is characterized by both structural strength and tenacity in thick ice and crust.  Ratcheted buckles grab securely and adjust nearly infinitely even with chilled, bemittened hands; the Alpine stoppers included prevent unplanned release in deep, sticky or crusty snow.  The wearer’s gait is affected by conditions more than the crampon's aggressive teeth and dual front points.  To complete the package, snow repellant, anti-balling pads are securely riveted to the frame.
