Field Notes: For a classic and value-added pair of shades that doesn’t fall short on performance, Native Eyewear has always been a go-to brand for Active Junky hard users. And by value we don’t mean cheap. The Native Eldo comes in at $129 with standard lenses or $149 with Reflex lenses that perform better in bright light. Both lenses include Native’s N3 polarized lens technology, which blocks up to four times more infrared light than regular polarized lenses, offers up to 400nm UV protection and are impact resistant.
The Eldo is a no-nonsense mountain town frame with great wrap-around protection and a larger fit to keep out glare. The tri-laminate frame features a flat brow style and are made with Rhyno-Tuff Airframes, which are lightweight for all-day wear and are durable without being overbuilt. Temple boots and temple grips keep the sunglasses comfortably in place on your head, and cushioned pads do the same for your nose, molding to its shape and size.
Choose from Eldo’s five styles with a varying lens colors, each with a specific purpose. Standard lenses come in black frames with either gray lenses for all around use that won’t distort true colors, or brown lenses for better contrast and detail. With Reflex lenses, you can opt for green frames with silver lens, similar to gray but better for brighter light, granite frames with blue lens that are top performers on water and in other bright conditions, or wood with green lens, ideal for moderate light.
Eldo shades are also interchangeable, and you can order additional lenses for varying light conditions while using the one pair frames. Lens options range from $70 for Reflex models down to $20 for simple clear lenses. Options include Reflex Bronze, Green or Silver, great for bright conditions, and SportFlex with a purple tint good for lower light.
