The West took testers confidently between sunbaked mank, hardpack and powder. It holds a solid edge in all terrain and turns on command around bumps. Edge-to-edge transition is quick – not too stiff, not too soft – moving fast through short turns or carving hard through GS turns. It’s not exactly a powder board, but floats well compared to many others with rocker-camber profiles. Mellow rocker between the feet and a slightly setback stance offer lift out of deep snow and the camber, beginning just inside the feet, locks into slopes and carves powerfully. As for playfulness, the medium flex is best for natural features. Camber at either end increases pop and lends to stomping landings without washing out. An East Coast tester reported, “It’s no freestyle phenom, but can hold its own in the jump lines.” Still, he added, “Its carvability and flex level shined brightest in the halfpipe, where straight lines and damp landings are key.” The West rides true to Never Summer standards, full of energy and reliably stable.
