Tested in Utah, Colorado and beyond, the REI Traverse gained acclaim from testers based on its design, removable brain, suspended harness and REI’s unique ActivMotion hip belt.
The customizable nature of REI’s ActivMotion hip belt has great merit. This interchangeable belt can be replaced if it begins to fray or sizing isn’t quite right. Customizable, it acts as a pivot point. If the pack’s body shifts while scampering up a steep section or down climbing a tough trail, the weight remains on the hips. A mesh ventilation system was big in the desert while Traverse’s padding kept testers content across challenging terrain.
The removable, sling pack brain, a positive element of the Traverse’s design, is less than comfortable when employed as a day pack.
The hip belt, combined with the harness, give this durable backpack an additional level of practicality. Plus, hip belt pockets served testers well as they snagged snacks and small necessities in motion.
“I’m personally a huge fan of the REI brand: affordable, quality gear with an amazing warranty—what more can you ask for? I’m considering purchasing this backpack as it’s the perfect size, weight and fit for 90% of my adventures.”
When it comes to fit, this REI backpack is tough to beat. Testers love it as an all-around pack, ideal for 3-season backpacking and adventures.
