Lost Gringos: Three Skiers Take on the Andes

Sam Smoothy is known for his raucous yet refined big mountain skiing.  If the name doesn’t ring a bell, maybe you remember this absolutely insane run from last year’s Freeride World Tour in Andorra. 

It’s safe to say that the New Zealander can add storytelling to his resume, as Lost Gringos, a short film project sponsored by The North Face, has a great deal more substance than most full-length ski movies. 

Following in the bootpack of his father, Sam charts a trip to Bolivia, aiming to ski alien Andean territory. Along for the ride? Fellow rippers Johnny Collinson and Fraser McDougall. 

Cheesy as it may be to paraphrase the great Tolkien here, but “not all those gringos who wander are lost.”
