Bike Season is in full swing, from high alpine singletrack to the local trails out the back door we have been out riding our bikes as much as possible. Based on the wait times at bike shops and the worldwide bike shortage, everyone else has been getting out on the trails too. We’ve been testing some of Backcountry’s new bike gear and regardless of whether you are new to mountain biking or have been riding for years, you’ll find something that meets your needs.
Backcountry x Giro LA DND Limited Edition Mountain Bike Glove Starting at: $28.76 Backcountry teamed up with Giro on these gloves, that are perfect for hot summer rides and are packed with features to keep you pedaling in comfort all day. With a mesh-like backhand, the gloves breathe incredibly well and wick moisture keeping your hands cool and dry. The palms are a grippy suede that keeps you locked into your grips and feeling secure on your bike. One of our favorite features is the touchscreen compatibility, it’s really convenient to not have to remove the gloves while navigating trail apps, or snapping photos of your friends. Additionally, there is a soft fabric on the thumb that can be used as a lens wipe to clean your sunglasses from those annoying sweat drips. The fit of these gloves is amazing, no straps required they almost form to your hand.
Backcountry Slickrock Bike Short - Men's These shorts are the ultimate lightweight shorts for summer rides, featuring a stretchy fabric and laser-cut vents help keep you cool and comfortable. The stretchy fabric gives an incredible range of motion you won’t feel restricted while pedaling and moving around the bike on descents. The zippered pockets keep tools, snacks, and your phone secure. We would have loved to see a little extra waist adjustability, either in the form of belt loops or some sort of velcro. Overall, these stylish shorts will keep you comfortable and looking good while you are on the trails.
Backcountry Getaway Tailgate Pad Starting at: $143.96 A shuttlers dream, pack all your buddies and bikes into the truck and drive to the top of some epic downhill trails. If you pull into any mountain bike trailhead you are likely to see more than a few trucks loaded up with bikes on their tailgate pad. The tailgate pad is one of the most efficient ways to transport bikes. The Getaway pad from Backcountry allows you to secure up to 5 bikes securely in the bed of your truck. Smart features like a flap to access your tailgate handle and give your backup camera a window to see through. Felt on the underside of the pad keeps your tailgate gate protected. A discreet pocket on the back of the pad stashes your tools and chain lube so you never forget an essential. If you have a truck, and you like mountain biking, this is the simplest, most functional way to transport your bikes. Highly recommend.
Backcountry White Rim Jersey - Men's Starting at: $50.37 Taking its name from the iconic White Rim Trail in Southeastern Utah this jersey is ready for hot weather like what you’d find in the desert surrounding Moab. With an ultra-lightweight moisture-wicking fabric you’ll stay dry and comfortable all day long pedaling in the desert sun. Our tester loved the style of the jersey, you definitely won’t stick out at the bar after your ride. A relaxed fit gives you room for movement, and also allows you to layer with a long sleeve under or a jacket over the jersey when temps start to drop. This is a super versatile jersey that is ready for whatever trails you take it on.
